Caring for vintage rugs
Vintage Rugs
Every vintage rug tells its own story. Slight colour differences, signs of age and irregularities are part of their authentic character.
Regular Care
- Vacuum gently without using a rotating brush.
-
Rotate your rug every few months for even wear.
-
Shake the rug outdoors occasionally to remove dust.
Stains
If a spill occurs:
- Blot immediately with a clean, dry cloth.
-
Never rub the stain deeper into the fibres.
-
Use only mild soap with cold water when necessary.
- For valuable vintage rugs, professional cleaning is recommended.
Direct Sunlight
Natural dyes may fade over time if exposed to strong sunlight.
We recommend rotating your rug regularly if placed in sunny areas.
Outdoor furniture recommendations:
Outdoor Furniture
Many of our lounge pieces are suitable for outdoor use during events and summer living, but they are not designed to remain permanently outdoors.
To extend their lifespan:
-
Bring cushions indoors after use.
-
Protect furniture during rain.
-
Avoid prolonged exposure to moisture.
-
Store furniture in a dry, ventilated area during winter.
Sun Exposure
Our products are made from natural fibres, vintage textiles and traditional dyes. These authentic materials are valued for their unique appearance, but they are also more sensitive to prolonged exposure to the elements than synthetic materials.
To preserve the beauty and longevity of your product, we strongly recommend using our textiles and upholstered furniture in covered outdoor areas or indoors. Continuous exposure to direct sunlight and UV radiation will naturally cause colours to fade over time.
Please note that fading caused by prolonged sun exposure is a natural characteristic of handcrafted textiles and is not considered a manufacturing defect.
To minimise colour loss and extend the life of your product:
- Always place furniture and textiles in a covered or shaded area whenever possible.
-
Avoid leaving products in direct sunlight for extended periods.
-
Bring cushions, rugs and other textile items indoors after use.
-
Rotate rugs and cushions regularly to ensure even exposure.
- Store products indoors during periods of non-use or extreme weather conditions.
Products that are left permanently outdoors or exposed to direct UV radiation may experience accelerated fading, drying of natural fibres and normal wear. These changes are part of the natural ageing process and are not covered under warranty.
